GOT A TICKET FOR SLOW SPEED OR BLOCKING TRAFFIC?
IF SO YOU WILL GET 2 POINTS ON YOUR LICENSE WE CAN HELP!
A Summons for Slow Speed or Blocking Traffic (39:4-97.1) in New Jersey will cost you two points
on your license and could cost you over $2500.00 in increased insurance rates over the next 3
years. Slow speed or blocking traffic is a common ticket given to new drivers and the elderly who
commonly drive slow. Just like it is illegal to speed it is illegal to go too slow. Too slow is anything
10 miles less than the speed limit.
The Points associated with this ticket can cost you dearly on your insurance. You can lose 3 points
a year off your license for your motor vehicle record if you remain violation free for a year, but
for Insurance purposes it takes 3 years from the date of your violation/conviction for the
points to be eliminated off your insurance. That is why a conviction for this offense should be
fought with proper legal representation as it can cost you thousands of dollars.
If mandatory court appearance is checked on your ticket for slow speed or blocking traffic in
addition to the 2 points you the judge does have the discretion to suspend your license. If you lose
your license either because you have accumulated too many points or because the judge feels that
your violation warrants a suspension, you could lose your job, your house and all that is important
to you! Don't go it alone we can help. Call our office at 1-800-9-RIGHTS or (732) 257-5040 to
